Jan Voges studied electrical engineering at Leibniz University Hannover, majoring in communications engineering. He received his Dipl.-Ing. degree from Leibniz University Hannover in 2015. After graduation, he joined Institut für Informationsverarbeitung at Leibniz University Hannover as a research assistant. In 2018, he worked as a visiting scientist at the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he contributed to a project to automate and accelerate the analysis of DNA sequencing data in a clinical setting. In 2022, he received his Dr.-Ing. degree from Leibniz University Hannover for his work on compression of DNA sequencing data. Since 2022, he is a research group leader at Institut für Informationsverarbeitung. His research includes information theory, data compression, communications engineering, machine learning, and bioinformatics. His current citations are available at Google Scholar and ORCID.
