Nikolce Stefanoski studied Mathematics and Computer Science with Telecommunication Engineering as field of application at the University of Hannover. He received his Dipl.-Math. degree from the University of Hannover in 2003. His junior thesis was dealing with 'Wavelet Based Compression of Digital Images' while his diploma thesis was about 'Probabilistic Analysis of Algorithms'. The Fachbereich für Informatik of the University of Hannover awarded him a prize for best diploma thesis in the field of computer science.

Since January 2004 he has been working toward a PhD degree at the Institut für Informationsverarbeitung of the Leibniz University of Hannover. His research interests are in 3D mesh coding and processing as well as in signal processing and stochastics in general. He is an active contributor to the ISO/IEC Moving Pictures Experts Group (MPEG) where he significantly contributed to the standardization of a technique for Scalable Compression of Dynamic 3D Meshes.
