René Sass studied Technical Informatics at Leibniz Universität Hannover and received his Master's degree in 2021. During his master's, René studied for one semester at the Beijing Institute of Technology, where he attended computer science seminars and gained international experience. With his thesis "Automated Outlier Detection via Bayesian Optimization," he implemented an automated pipeline for anomaly detection and showed analytically that hyperparameter optimization is strongly recommended.

Since June 2021, he pursues his PhD at the Institut für Informationsverarbeitung at Leibniz Universität Hannover. His main research interests are AutoML, focusing primarily on interpretability.
