Dario Oliveira was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1983. He studied Electrical Engineering with emphasis in Computing Systems at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). During the period of 2005-2007 he also worked at the Brazilian Centre for research in Physics (CBPF). From July 2007 - December 2008 he worked on his MSc at the Pontifical Catholic Univesity of Rio de Janeiro (Puc-Rio). The title of his thesis was "Segmentation of liver, its vessels and lesions from CT images for surgical planning". From December 2008 - March 2009 he made an internship at the Instituto Superior Tecnico (IST) in Lisbon, working with brain 4D fMRI image segmentation. Since March 2009, he is working towards his PhD degree at Puc-Rio, working with medical image analysis. From May 2011 - May 2012 he will be doing an internship at the Institut für Informationsverarbeitung (TNT) of the Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany. His research interests are medical imaging segmentation, especially organs segmentation and vessels tracking.
